Nicole Faria has said that the reason why Indian beauties are not making it to the top at international beauty pageants is because winners are not being picked up on merit.

She said that a more deserving contestant loses to a mediocre contestant as the latter is organisers' favourite, FHM India magazine reported.

Faria said that how can such people be sent to international pageants and expected to win, asserting that they are not even trained properly.

She added that the level of competition is completely different at international platforms and a lot of skills are needed to crack them.
