South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New York on Sunday.
Haley told Prime Minister Modi that she is excited about the opportunities in India.
"Exciting meeting w/ PM @narendramodi - looking forward to building our partnership between SC and India! #ModiInAmerica," she tweeted.
Haley is an Indian-American Republican Party member, who had also represented Lexington County in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
Besides being the first woman to serve as South Carolina's Governor, 42-year-old Haley is also the youngest current Governor in the United States.
She is one of two sitting Indian American Governors in the United States, the other being fellow Republican Bobby Jindal of Louisiana.
