Police in Udaipur conducted raids on Saturday on a resort here, arrested nine prostitutes and two pimps, and seized cash worth $ 126.893.
Police entered the resort pretending to be customers and undertook a transaction in which they forwarded signed notes to the perpetrators for purpose of identification.
The deputy superintendent of police, Atahur Rahman said that these women used to be paid around Rs. 2000 ($ 34.76) per day whereas their pimp extracted much more from the customers for the services provided by the women.
"We raided a resort called Badal resort in Gogunda with a special team along with SHO. A person named Rahul Rawat used to bring groups of prostitutes from Odisha, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Bombay and supply them in the town of Udaipur. During the raid we have arrested 9 prostitutes and two pimps," said Rahman in Udaipur.
He further said that they had also seized Rs. 7,300 ($ 126.893) in cash, eight mobile phones along with 2 luxury cars.
Acting on tip-off the police team raided the guest house of a hotel situated in the vicinity and arrested the culprits, while they are on the lookout for one more pimp escaped in another vehicle.
On interrogation it was found that these pimps were working as agents for the women and transporting them to various different states.
