Defending champion Kei Nishikori produced a resilient performance to progress to the Barcelona Open semifinal with a three-set win over his Spanish opponent Roberto Bautista Agut on Friday.
The world number five fought back stoutly to recover after losing the second set and subsequently beat Bautista Agut 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, the BBC reported.
With the win, Nishikori will next face Martin Klizan after the Slovak trounced Spaniard Tommy Robredo 7-6 (7-5) 6-4.
David Ferrer, meanwhile, showcased his clay-court proficiency as he overcame Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3 7-6 (7-5).
The Spaniard will next square off against compatriot Pablo Andujar to book a berth in the final.
