After Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar Chief Minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said the dissonance in the Bihar politics was expected.

"This is clear that Lalu ji had said that Tejashwi Yadav would not resign and not clarify on the corruption charges. Nitish had asked his clarification. I am deeply pained for my Bihar. Bihar's governance has come to end. Now Nitish ji has to take further decision. I only want to say one thing that this was expected," Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told the media.

He further said that the grand alliance was not based on any ideology and cooperation and was formed only because of insecurity with the BJP.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan refrained from speaking on the matter while saying that it was their internal matter.

"If he has resigned just because Tejashwi hasn't resigned, then it is very serious matter," he added.

Bihar saw a major turn of events on Wednesday evening when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar resigned from his post, instead of Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, as was being speculated and expected.

Nitish handed over his resignation to Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi and confirmed it to the media even as he emerged after meeting him.

"The Governor has accepted my resignation. I did everything a chief of a party in alliance should do. I myself have given away the post. Now, you will have to wait and see what happens next," he said.
