The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has categorically stated that no outside force or individual could decide the fate of India's internal issues such as Jammu and Kashmir.

"As a diplomatic establishment we do monitor and keep careful account of what is happening around globally. But that said we also would like to make it very clear that gone are the days when a group of disparate individuals would decide the destiny of countries far away from their shores," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin told a press conference here on Friday.

"As far as India is concerned, we are confident that our issues related to us and our destiny's will be decided by us and not elsewhere. Therefore, we have refrained from commenting on disparate individuals who may want to articulate their views on matters which we consider to be internal to us," he added.

Earlier on Thursday, some UK MPs led by David Ward held a debate on 'political and humanitarian situation in Kashmir' although there was no vote at the end of the debate as it was not a part of government business, yet it had official recognition. At the end of the debate, the British Government condemned terrorism and violence but rejected any mediation between India and Pakistan on Kashmir issue.

The scheduled debate took place in the main chamber of the House of Commons, but in a committee room in Britain's House of Parliament.
