The Congress Party on Tuesday said that 'communal and orthodox' leaders like Azam Khan and Sakshi Maharaj have no place in our country.

"There is no difference between Azam Khan and Sakshi Maharaj. All these politicians like Asaduddin Owaisi, Azam Khan, Sakshi Maharaj, all are alike," Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit told ANI.

"Both Azam Khan and Sakshi Maharaj are communal and orthodox and there is no place for such kind of people in our country," he added.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sakshi Maharaj had earlier said that they are ready to kill in order to protect cows from slaughter.

"We won't remain silent if somebody tries to kill our mother. We are ready to kill and get killed. The Uttar Pradesh Government's double standards have been exposed. The way in which the incident is being politicised is condemnable," said Maharaj.

Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare and Urban Development Minister Azam Khan had yesterday said that he would take the issue of rampant communal violence in India to the United Nations and also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop those who are spreading violence and communalism across the country.
