The Pakistan Foreign Office has confirmed that there are plans for a meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the UN general Assembly in New York.
The Dawn quoted Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam, as saying that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be accompanied by a small delegation, and will address the United Nations General Assembly on September 26.
She said Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatimi, Foreign Secretary Azaz Ahmed, Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Jalil, Abbas Jilani and Pakistan's Permanent Envoy to UN Ambassador Masood Khan are members of the delegation.
Prime Minister Sharif's visit startsng from September 24 and he will return to Islamabad on September 27.
Aslam said that Prime Minister Sharif will hold bilateral meetings with many world leaders, and added that no meeting has been planned with U.S. President Barack Obama.
Sharif will co-chair the UN peacekeeping summit along with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden and a few other world leaders.
