Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Saturday said no power in the world could snatch away Arunachal Pradesh from India.
Making an apparent reference to the recent entry of Chinese troops into Indian territory in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh, Modi said: "No power in the world can snatch away our territory from us."
"The people of Arunachal are so strong that they did not let China overtake their land and fought them off," he added.
He further said that Arunachal Pradesh needed development in order to progress.
"Solution to your problems is development, and, the BJP is moving ahead on this path steadily. The Lotus will shine in all north east states, and there will be prosperity and development in the region," said Modi.
"Water resource management and solar energy in the northeast is needed, the government here did nothing in this area," he said.
"There is huge tourism potential here, and this land is no less than Switzerland. We can attract tourists from around the world," he added.
