India's stand on talks with Pakistan remains unchanged, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday.

"Our stand remains unchanged. For the talks to go ahead there should be a conducive environment which has to be created - an environment has to be created which is free of terrorism and free of terrorists getting support from Pakistan," MEA Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

Yesterday, a delegation of Pakistan Rangers led by Director General (Sindh Rangers) Major General Muhammad Saeed arrived in New Delhi for 44th Biannual DG-level talks.

Tensions have been running high between India and Pakistan since the Uri attack, with border skirmishes further aggravating the situation.

However, Indian Ambassador to China Gautam Bambawale, who was earlier the country's envoy to Pakistan, ruled out talks between the two countries unless Islamabad stops cross border terrorism.
