A South Korean official has revealed that North Korea has banned people from using the name of the young leader Kim Jong-un.
The move seems to be aimed at building a personality cult surrounding Jong-un who took charge of the country after the death of his father, Kim Jong II in late 2011. Seoul officials said Pyongyang has also prohibited the use of the names of Kim Jong Il and the country's founder, Kim Il Sung, reported Fox News.
The South Korean official, who requested anonymity, said that Jong II had ordered citizens with the same name as his son to get new names and demanded authorities to cancel the birth registrations of new born babies having the same name in early 2011.
