A US citizen, who was imprisoned for more than a year in North Korea, has been reportedly moved back to a labour camp according to U.S officials.

Kenneth Bae, arrested in November 2012 on charges of trying to overthrow the state, was sentenced to 15 years' hard labour in May.

Bae's sister said that he was back to eight-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week hard labour.

Meanwhile, following the news, the State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that Washington had learned about Mr Bae's transfer to the camp from representatives of the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang, which acts on behalf of the US in North Korea, the BBC reported.

US President Barack Obama prayed for Kenneth Bae during the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, saying that the United States will continue to do everything in its power to secure his release because Kenneth Bae deserves to be free.
