Northern Army commander pays tribute to two martyred soldiers

Lt. Gen D.S. Hooda, the commander of the Indian Army's Northern Command, paid tribute to two martyred soldiers for their valour and courage in the line of duty over the weekend.

In a statement issued by the spokesman of the Ministry of Defence, Lt. Gen. Hooda hoped the almighty would give strength to the families of the two dead soldiers to bear their irreparable bereavement with fortitude.

The two soldiers were martyred while participating in separate operations to control militancy in the state.

The army eliminated four terrorists in the Kalaroosh sector of Kupwara District on Sunday.

The first of the two dead soldiers was identified as Naik Neeraj Kumar Singh of 57 RR, who was martyred in the Kalaroosh sector of Kupwara District during a firefight where four terrorists were gunned down.

In another operation, Grenadier Rahul Kumar of 23 Grenadiers Battalion laid down his life while battling a group of terrorists along the Line of Control in the Keran Sector of Kupwara District late on Saturday night.
