Doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have reportedly said it was not feasible to restore sight of 40 patients of the Badwani botched up eye surgeries.
An eight-member team of doctors from AIIMS arrived in Indore on Sunday afternoon to examine the patients.
Interacting with the media, senior eye specialist Dr. Atul Kumar said more than 45 percent portion of eyes of 40 patients caught infection and had even infected retina.
As many as 45 patients have been admitted in Indore so far.
He said there could be several reasons for infection, including eye solutions and equipments used in the surgery.
Over 80 eye patients were operated upon in the health camp held at the Badwani district hospital in November, while 45 were referred to Indore after they complained of loss of vision.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had talked to Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and sought his cooperation in the treatment of the patients.
After his discussions with Nadda, the team of doctors was sent to Indore.
The state government has announced that it will bear entire cost of treatment of the eye patients. It has also set up a team to probe the incident, and has suspended six people, including an ophthalmologist.
