Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Atul Anjan on Tuesday said that the two former Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders who have recently joined Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) had taken this plunge to keep their political careers afloat.

"Amar Singh and Jaya Prada both have film background, while the former didn't have any success, the latter was a star actor in her times when she was at her peak of her career. The duo have been trying their luck for the last five years to be politically successful but alas, they have failed miserably." Anjan said.

"After knocking the door of every political party, be it Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress or Trinamool Congress (TMC), finally, they have settled themselves to become a member of RLD. Good that they have atleast reached somewhere to try their luck since their political career was at stake," the CPI leader added.

Ending months of speculation, expelled SP leaders Amar Singh and Jaya Prada on Monday joined the Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal ahead of Lok Sabha polls.

Singh is tipped to contest Lok Sabha polls from Fatehpur Sikri while Jaya Prada could enter the electoral fray from Bijnore.
