Award winning Bengali filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh died of a cardiac arrest here this morning. He was 49.
According to reports, Ghosh was suffering from diseases of the pancreas. He breathed his last at 7:30 a.m. today.
Ghosh had made some of the highly acclaimed films like Raincoat starring Aishwarya Rai, Chokher Bali and The Last Lear.
Born on August 31, 1963 Ghosh was brought up in Kolkata. He started his career in advertising and his directional debut was Hirer Angti (The diamond ring). He got National film award for Best Director for his Bengali film Abohoman.
He has claim to more than a dozen of National Film Awards for his films.
