The producer of the movie 'Kaum De Heere', Satish Katyal, said on Thursday that his film on former prime minister Indiara Gandhi's assassination is based on the life story of Satwant Singh and Beant Singh and does not contain any controversial stuff.
Katyal told ANI here, "According to me, there is nothing controversial in the movie. It is a musical and emotional one. You will know when you will watch it that the film is based on their lives and nothing else", he added.
"It is a story picked up from the pages of history. It is based on the lives of Satwant Singh and Beant Singh. They were the bodyguards of Indira Gandhi, as everybody knows. I don't see any point of controversy in this, because without seeing and understanding, people are just trying to push it towards controversy," he added.
Katyal also questioned the logic behind banning the film, saying that people should first watch the movie and then see if it needs to be banned.
"I want to ask the leaders why they are doing this. I would like to say that they should first watch the film, and then, if they feel that the atmosphere is not favourable, then they can ban after two-three days. What is the logic of banning without watching it?" Katyal told ANI.
Commenting on the Censor Board clearing the movie, he said, "Censor Board has seen the movie. They felt that a few scenes should not be there, we edited them, and only then, it has been passed. Just to come into the limelight, some people are doing this".
"People are liking this subject. This is different from my last film, which was comedy. Moreover, I received a recommendation from the press only that work on something different; take up history. I personally would not like to repeat film topics which have already been done earlier. Only a fresh thing from history can run in the market," Katyal added.
A Punjabi film, Kaum De Heere, allegedly portraying the assassination of Indira Gandhi has already received much criticism even before its release.
