Former Cabinet Secretary T S R Subramanian on Friday said that he was surprised over the Chhattisgarh Government's notice to the District Magistrate of Bastar District, Amit Kataria, for wearing sun glasses while receiving Prime Minister Modi last week.
"Rule 318 talks of officers being properly dressed for official occasions, but it has no mention of dark glasses, rules might have changed, but I don't see anything wrong in it," said Subramanian.
Earlier in the day, the Chhattisgarh Government issued a notice to Kataria for donning sunglasses while receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit on May 9.
Kataria was warned for not following the protocol and not showing "integrity and devotion" towards duty. It also warned him against such acts in the future.
Chief Minister Raman Singh said that the notice was given to make state officials aware of protocol while receiving the Prime Minister.
