A world wide web that was specially created for robots to learn from each other and share data, is now being shown off for the first time.

Researchers behind RoboEarth would be putting it to test at Eindhoven University in a mocked-up hospital room, the BBC reported.

Four robots are going to be using the system to finish a series of tasks, which includes serving drinks to patients.

It is the culmination of a four-year project, funded by the European Union.

The eventual aim of the project is that both robots and humans should be able to upload data to the cloud-based database that is going to act as a kind of common brain for machines.

The system has been developed by research scientists from Philips and five European universities including Eindhoven.
