One of China's largest mobile manufacturers, Gionee, which is headquartered in Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, has launched the Marathon M5 Plus mobile phone, which will go on sale from Christmas (December 25).
The phone will be available for a starting price of 2499 RMB or approximately Rs.25, 500.

In a first for mobile phones, the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus will have a physical home button and also a fingerprint scanner.

The company has said that it plans to make the phone available soon at a starting price of 1999 RMB or approximately Rs.20, 500.

Currently, Gionee's Marathon M5 mobile phone is available in India for Rs.17, 999 since November, but no announcements have yet been made by its Indian branch for the launch of the Plus version or on plans to offer these range of phones at reduced cost.

The other key features of the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus are a 6-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution; a 2.5D arc symmetrical design and a Gorilla Glass for protection.
An unspecified 1.3 GHz octa core CPU paired with 3GB RAM powers it.
This smart phone also has 64 gigabytes of internal storage, with a potential to be expanded up to 128GB with the use of a microSD card.
