Art lovers in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) will soon be witness to an innovative initiative-that of enjoying art in the lap of natural confines.

An exhibition showcasing about 100 arts works by 17 artists, in a setting like never before, an old factory transformed into art factory is to begin tomorrow.

The exhibition, titled as 'Construction', will be from March 14 to March 23.

The setting is a permanent base being provided to artists and art lovers. It has been named as 'D Art Factory' (DAF).

DAF, located in the midst of busy industries, is a place which will transport one to another world.

The gallery is at a distance of just 3.5 kilometers from IFFCO Chowk, Gurgaon. Its greatest attraction is that after driving through the busy industrial area of Gurgaon, the moment you walk in the gates, you are transported to another world-an ideal place, in a rustic setting.

The very idea of holding an exhibition of this nature germinated after it was realized that artists should be given an opportunity to remain as close to the nature and to natural settings.

Surbhi along with her friend Radha, a fellow artist, joined hands together to conceptualize, design and remodel the area into something worthy of housing and showcasing fine art.

The one-time factory has now emerged as a hub for artists. The whole idea of having this exhibition in this setting is to connect with and be inspired by nature.

The whole ambience is created using waste materials, and the concept of "Best out of Waste", is really true for this place.

"It was not at all the way it is looking now, and has taken a lot of hard work to give it this shape and look," says Surbhi.

The cozy place deserves compliments the art on display intends to show off. There are a few old Neem trees and two old Peepal trees which give ample shade and oxygen to the surroundings. The green house alongside the wall, featured in the picture above, is floored with concrete blocks and houses lots of exotic plants.

Yogesh, Founder of Delhi Street Art, views this endeavour as a positive step.

He said: "It's heartening to see D Art Factory (DAF) also taking up similar initiative to provide new and innovative platform for artists to share their art works outside the usual gallery spaces and art shows."

Several DSA artists will be joining in to help make this a successful endeavor.

Delhi Street Art (DSA) is focused on promoting public and street art and enabling artists to express themselves and their creativity and has been hosting several initiatives in this regard.

The art work will be exhibited in the open but at the same time care has been taken to safeguard the works by giving it a protective cover using tarpaulin.

As there is no space constraint, the art show intends to exhibit works as high or wide as 16 feet.

"We like to think it's a good pairing because the factory is authentic. Nothing is a facade. Since we only showcase original art, it compliments that. The show of art work will be exhibited from 14th March, and this week-long exhibition will draw its curtains on March 23," said Surbhi.

"Through this upcoming show, we have extended that opportunity for other artists too. The aim of the entire team is to simply to promote artists and their art, and make it available and affordable to those who love it, too," she added.

French artist Felix Frachon considers it to be a fantastic energy and idea, on transforming a place used as a paper factory by her family for so many years into an Art Factory.

It is a space that is only defined by love, creativity and a collaborative spirit.
