New software called Cider lets Android users mix and match Android and iOS apps.
According to The BBC, postgraduate researchers at Columbia University have created software which is capable of running Android and iOS apps side by side.
However, the team said that Cider is only a prototype and they do not intend to make it commercial product.
Six teams researched on the software and it showed that iOS gadget owners struggle to use Flash-based content whereas Android users cannot get at apps that call on media in iTunes, the report added.
