A new phone application has been launched called 'Grate' through which the customers are able to rate the service of the restaurants using their mobile phone.

The app launched in November 2014 is available in iOS, combines a star rating system with discreet reviews of a waitperson's performance in the restaurant that is viewable by every app user, ABC News reported.

The unique rating app also has an additional feature in which users are able to do detailed comments regarding the level of service they received, but the employer, who pays a fee to access the information, can only read the name of the waiter.

Heigo Paartalu, founder of Grate explained that the main goal of the app is to refer diner experiences to the restaurant manager so the establishment can make adjustments internally, rather than publicly excoriate someone.

The app is free for customers to download, but restaurants who gets added in the client list pays a fee in order to access the staff reviews, ranging from a month-to-month subscription at 75 dollars per month to an annual subscription fee of 825 dollars.
