A new bright-coloured silicone wristband is set to make it easier for singles who are on the market to spot each other.

The wristband has been designed by Rob Young and Rina Mardahl, founders of the 'MY Single World', the New York Daily News reported.

The concept of bracelets was inspired by Young and Mardahl's own love story, who admit that they wouldn't have been together, had they not greeted each other with a "hello" when they met for the first time when they were both on vacation in Lanzarote, Spain.

The designer duo revealed that they wanted to create something that would be stylish and identifiable to connect singles in everyday life.

Comparing the bands to wedding rings, Young said that they came up with the idea as there is no universal, unisex way for single people to self-identify, adding that people shouldn't be embarrassed or ashamed to show they are not in a relationship.

The wristbands, which come in seven colors, are inscribed with "MY" as well as the words "fate", "destiny" and "future".
