New South Wales Premier Barry O'Farrell is on a visit of India and will address captains of Indian industry in a bid to scale up the relationship between his state and India.
O'Farrell will visit Delhi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai to boost trade and investment ties.
He will be meeting leading political and business figures in all three cities, with an ambitious agenda for taking the relationship to the next level. He will address members of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in Delhi this afternoon.
"New South Wales is already doing a lot of business with India - two way trade reached almost 1.8 billion Australian Dollars (Rs.10, 191 crore) in 2012-13. But there's an enormous opportunity for us to do much more" said O'Farrell.
He added: "Businesses in New South Wales have world class expertise in areas which will help fuel India's growth. Our businesses can help India deliver on its one trillion dollar infrastructure program, while our skills and education providers can help India meet its target to train up to 500 million people by 2022."
"I've got a clear message for investors and the business community - when it comes to New South Wales and India, the sky is the limit" said O'Farrell.
The Premier and his team will also explore further collaboration and investment in several other sectors, such as IT, renewable technology, agriculture and tourism.
