The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government's appeal against the stay order of its new nursery admission norms.
A bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal directed the single judge to decide the petitions expeditiously.
The Delhi Government had moved the High Court following a single judge's interim order on its notification based on the neighbourhood criteria.
The judge had said the interim stay on the January 7 notification would remain in place till final disposal of the pleas challenging the Delhi Government order directing the private unaided schools to accept nursery admission norms based only on the neighbourhood or distance criteria.
The order had come after petitions were filed by parents and two school groups challenging the Delhi Government's December 19, 2016 and January 7 notifications that made 298 private schools, built on Delhi Development Authority land, to accept nursery admission forms based only on the neighborhood or distance norm.
The High Court had earlier also asked the Centre and the Delhi Government to produce before it the allotment letters on the basis of which neighbourhood criteria was imposed.
