A Bangladeshi man, who plotted to detonate a 9,000-pound bomb at the Federal Reserve Building in lower Manhattan last year, has blamed his violent intentions on a childhood stammer and an unfaithful girlfriend.

Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis has been sentenced to life in prison for working with undercover agents, posing as terrorists, to blow up the facility.

Nafis wrote a remorseful letter mentioning his stutter that turned him into a loner in Bangladesh and betrayal from girlfriend to be the roots of his violent plans.

The betrayal instigated Nafis into suicidal thoughts, he wrote in his letter.

But as Islam prohibits suicide, he figured that a violent plot would be a better way to go.

Earlier, Nafis was arrested on October 17, 2012, the day of the planned blast.

He said that he has come to love the United States and even praised the Metropolitan Detention Center for delicious food and kind prison guards.
