After Republican senators sent a letter to Iran on the ongoing talks to seal a nuclear deal, United States President Barack Obama has reportedly criticized it and accused the senators of "interfering" in the dialogue process.
The letter reminded Iran that any agreement on its nuclear program would just be an executive agreement between Obama and the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei without congressional approval, reported the BBC.
Obama accused the 47 senators of making an "unusual coalition" with Iran's hard-line religious leaders.
The news came as talks on Iran's nuclear program reached a critical stage, with an outline agreement due on 31 March.
Republicans and Democrats have long been pressing for Congress to get a vote on any deal.
The P5+1 nations, including, the U.S., the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Russia and China, accuse Iran of building nuclear weapons under the pretense of developing its nuclear capabilities for civilian purposes. They want Tehran to curb its nuclear ambitions in return for the lifting of United Nations sanctions.
