Attractiveness of facial hair reportedly deteriorates when men adopt it and vice versa, a study has revealed.

According to the research conducted by the University of NSW, people were confronted by a succession of bearded men, and clean-shaven men become more attractive to them, the Guardian reported.

The beard trend process also worked in reverse where men with heavy stubble and full beards have been judged more attractive when present in a sea of hairless appearances.

Researcher Robert Brooks said the bigger the trend gets, the weaker will be the preference for beards and the tide then will exit again.
