Former IPS officer and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kiran Bedi on Friday said the Odd-even scheme needs to be addressed more holistically.

"I would say it will be very early to judge because we are in a holiday weekend.so the real test is when the holiday is over and the schools and offices are open. But meanwhile working on experimentation, this is one of the strategies. We need to address this now more holistically, more comprehensively. What it needs now is the voluntary cooperation of every citizen," Bedi told ANI here.
"I am on the side of pollution and congestion control. I support all possible measures which must be taken with the cooperation of the people. It is not the question of whose victory or whose loss, it has to be victory of the capital of India, where every citizen has the right to have a quality life," she added.

The odd-even scheme for cars to check vehicular pollution in Delhi is now in force.

Initially, it is on trial basis for 15 days. Odd number registration cars will ply on odd dates and even number on even dates. The scheme is operational from 8 in the morning to 8 in the evening. However, the scheme will not apply on Sundays.

The VIPs, women drivers, CNG-certified vehicles, two-wheelers and those carrying the differently-abled are among the 25 categories which are exempted from the scheme. Those found violating the scheme will be penalised with a fine of 2,000 rupees. Helpline numbers 011-42400400 and 011-41400400 are available for the public for their guidance about the scheme.
