Terming the uncertainty over People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti replacing her father Mufti Mohammed Sayeed as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir as 'unnecessary', former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that such a situation is 'dangerous' to the state.

"This period of uncertainty is unnecessary and nobody will benefit by this. The officers will also be worried as they will not be sure of listening to whose command. The ministers are also worried as they are thinking whether to listen to the present Chief Minister or the future CM," Adbullah told the media here.

"That's why it is better for Mufti sahib and Mehbooba ji to decide who wants to sit on the chair. If they donot want any change then, they should openly say that because such kind of uncertainty in a state like Jammu and Kashmir is dangerous," he added.

Mufti Sayeed has in recent past dropped enough hints about his daughter's ascendance to the Chief Minister's post.

If Mehbooba becomes the Chief Minister of the state, then she would be the first woman chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

However, PDP's coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expressed its reservation over Mehbooba's ascendance to the top post. Leaders of BJP's J-K unit will reportedly convene a meeting later this week to discuss the matter.
