Markets in Quetta are teeming with Pakistani military uniforms, official badges, boots, caps, and other military equipments which have been discarded by the military, says a report.
According to the Dawn, the bazaars which sell these military items are not very far from security check posts which are frequented by security officials. The revelation is significant because terrorist attacks in the recent times on key locations in Pakistan have seen terrorists dressed in military and police uniforms.
Several shops located along Double Road and Alamdar Road in Quetta have these items on display to attract customers despite a ban on the sale. The shops also house equipments belonging to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces and the United States. The prices differ with the quality of the product.
Akbar Hussain Durrani, Home Secretary Baluchistan, admitted that it is difficult to implement the ban, the report added.
The south-western province of Baluchistan has been at the epicenter of armed conflicts in the past that have claimed the lives of thousands of civilians and security personnel.
