At least one person was killed and several others injured after a speeding car struck pedestrians in New York's Times Square on Thursday.
The driver was in an inebriated state, the New York Times quoted a law enforcement official as saying. The driver is a history-sheeter.
The police has taken the driver into custody.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that President Donald Trump has been apprised of the incident.
".@POTUS has been made aware of the situation in Times Square and will continue to receive updates," Spicer tweeted.
