A new study has observed that less than three in ten Brits now sit down to a traditional Sunday roast and instead opts for foreign food.

According to the survey conducted by oven cleaning brand Oven Pride, only 29 percent of adults now enjoy a roast on Sundays compared to 72 percent who used to when they were young, the Daily Star reported.

The study revealed that more than four in ten have eaten Italian on a Sunday instead, 31 percent have had Indian and 19 percent have enjoyed American-style grub such as burgers.

A spokesman for the Oven Pride brand said that it is clear the Sunday roast is currently a dying tradition, with many households missing out on a family meal that so many British adults enjoyed weekly as a child.

Almost one in three of 16 to 29-year-olds say they do not cook it because of the time it takes and 64 percent of the same age group prefers Italian food instead.

The survey also revealed that about 15 percent said the mess put them off making a Sunday roast.
