Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has reportedly said that the decision to ban international aid group 'Save the Children' from operating has not been withdrawn, but added that only its office in Islamabad will remain closed.
Addressing the press in his chamber in the National Assembly, Khan confirmed that the government had refrained from taking any further action against the aid group until a high-level committee formed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif came up with a regulation process for these organisations, reported The Express Tribune.
He also said that no substantial evidence had been found against the international non-governmental organization, which had been registered in 1997 during the PML-N regime.
Khan said that many INGOs were doing great job and added the government will facilitate such organisations.
The Interior Minister further said the government has categorised INGOs in three groups: Green, Yellow and Red. Those who abide by the rules have been placed in the green category, while those who enhanced their assigned work and offices without prior permission have been put in the second group. The INGOs that have worked against Pakistan's national security have been placed in the third category.
