Commenting on Abdul Basit's remark that Pakistan was ready to hold talks with India on all issues, the Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh on Thursday asserted that there is only one outstanding issue and that is how to liberate part of Jammu and Kashmir which is under illegal occupation of Islamabad.
"Our stand is very clear in the context of Jammu and Kashmir issue. If at all there is any outstanding issue with Pakistan it is how to liberate the part of Jammu and Kashmir which remains under illegal occupation of Islamabad after 60-65 years of Independence and make it a part of Jammu and Kashmir and part of the Indian Union," Singh told ANI.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, on the occasion of Pakistan Day celebrations expressed Islamabad's desire to have good relations with India as well as to address the Kashmir issue.
"Pakistan has always tried to maintain good relations with its neighbors. We also want good relations with India," he told ANI.
He added, "We hope that we will be able to solve our differences and issues especially the Kashmir issue.
