Several opposition leaders, including Janata Dal (United) leader K C Tyagi, RJD leader Manoj Jha, Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and Abhishek Manu Singhvi, besides other leaders met, the three-member Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday to seek a ban on the broadcast of Prime Minister Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' program on Sunday.

Surjewala said that the 'Mann ki Baat' programme will be a violation of the model code of conduct ahead of the Bihar polls.

"We've given a petition to the EC seeking a ban on Prime Minister's Mann ki Baat till the Bihar polls are over, as it will be a violation of the model code of conduct. We've requested the EC through a petition not to allow the broadcast of the Mann Ki Baat on 20th September," Surjewala told media after meeting the EC.

"We believe in the good judgment of the EC, they will listen to us and will take action appropriately," added Manoj Jha.

The broadcast of the 12th edition of Prime Minister Modi's 'Mann ki Baat' programme is scheduled for Sunday.

The opposition has citied the Model Code of Conduct, which is presently in place for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, as the reason for opposing the 'Mann ki Baat' program.
