Opposition parties on Tuesday blamed the ruling Congress for the prolonged and continuous disruptions in the Monsoon Session of Parliament, after an All Party Meeting, held earlier today.

Leader of Opposition (Lok Sabha) Sushma Swaraj said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was ready to debate all issues in Parliament, and blamed the Congress for the constant disruptions during the Monsoon Session.

"We have made it clear that the lawmakers from the ruling party are responsible for disrupting of the Parliament sessions. Opposition is sitting in the House. We just want to raise some issues. But your (ruling Congress Party) people are not allowing the session to be successful. Stop your people. We want to sit and discuss and not halt the session. We want to debate and discuss on bills and issues. I think they will speak to their people and allow the session to take place," Swaraj said after the All Party Meeting, which was called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) was also of the view that the ruling party was responsible for the repeated interruptions in Parliamentary sessions.

"But one thing we want, Parliament must run. The responsibility of running the Parliament is the government's.... They are totally failing to do the job. This is our collective position of the Left, that we are making it clear," CPI leader Gurudas Dasgupta said.
