Commenting on the government's decision to pass the Anti-Corruption Bills through an ordinance, Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi on Saturday said opposing the bill reflected the hypocritical nature of the opposition which had earlier asked for a strong law against corruption.
"We have seen the opposition's behavior in the whole session. There was disruption and chaos everyday. They had demanded for a strong law against corruption, and now, when the government has come up with a bill, they are not ready to pass it. This reflects their hypocritical nature," said Chaturvedi.
"If the session doesn't even function, then, there is no other way than to bring in the bills through an ordinance," he said.
He further said that the government had put in a lot of effort to pass the bills related to the poor and those which were against corruption.
The UPA Government is likely to approach the President for his consent for the promulgation of ordinances on anti-corruption legislations.
