Oprah Winfrey has donated 100,000 dollars to support 13-year-old Michael Stolzenberg's charity, 'Mikey's Run', to help amputees who survived the Boston Marathon bombings.
The media mogul called the two Florida brothers, Michael and Harris, who run the charity, on Monday to let them know that she gave the huge amount to the charity that has a goal of raising 1 million dollars for the victims of the bomb blasts, the New York Daily News reported.
Michael, who received Winfrey's call, explained that when he picked up the phone, the legendary host introduced herself and told him that she wanted to make the donation.
He further explained that at first, he was shocked but after talking to her, felt like he almost knew her.
Michael himself is an amputee, who lost all of his limbs several years ago after a bacterial infection.
He and his brother now want to help amputees who survived the Boston Marathon bombings.
It was Michael's own struggle to adapt to the amputations of his limbs that motivated him to try to help the Boston bombing sufferers.
