Egypt's judiciary is extending ousted president Mohammed Morsi's detention for 15 days pending an investigation into his collaboration with Hamas.
Morsi, overthrown by the military on 3 July, was placed in detention on 26 July over his links with the Palestinian Islamist movement, news24 reports.
A top Egyptian court had ordered the detention of Morsi for 15 days for investigations into spying and jailbreak.
Charges against Morsi also include spying for the Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement; while official al-Ahram online said Morsi is also accused of " escaping from Wadi El Natron prison and destroying the prison 's official records as well as the intentional killing of officers and some prisoners."
Morsi was ousted by the military on July 3 after he failed to respond positively to the demands of millions of protesters who were unsatisfied with his rule since he was elected a year ago.
