The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) have received an overwhelming response in the first week of their respective launches in Odisha.
The PMSBY has received over 22 lakh applications after its May 9 launch, while the PMJJBY has attracted 3.5 lakh applicants.
The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana provides an insurance cover of Rs. two lakh for accidental death and disability at an annual premium of Rs. 12, while the Pradhan Matri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana gives a Rs. two lakh death cover at an annual premium of Rs 330.
Further, while the PMJJBY covers people from 18- 50 years of age, the PMSBY covers people aged between 18 to 70 years.
