The Australian cricket community has reacted shockingly to the hospitalization of batsman Phillip Hughes, who suffered a heavy blow on the head by a bouncer during South Australia's Sheffield Shield clash with NSW.
Hughes has been admitted in the St Vincent Hospital, where he is kept in an induced coma and undergoing surgery, News.com.au reported.
Expressing their sadness, many current and former players have sent their prayers and wishes to the injured cricketer.
Australian coach Darren Lehmann has said that he is a great fighter and his prayers are with Phil and his family. Referring him as Hughesy, pace bowler Mitchell Johnson said that hopefully everything is okay with him. Peter Siddle said that he was sad to hear about this news and his thoughts go out to him and his family. Former Australian batsman Dean Jones, expressing his sadness, has asked him to stay strong.
