The Australian media has claimed that losing 3-0 to England in the current Ashes series would not be that bad a result, as the only other time Australia lost so badly apart from 1977, was in 1886, 15 years before the country officially existed.
According to news.com.au, it is also only the first time Australia has lost three successive series to England since 1956 and an argument can be mounted that to an extent, luck conspired against the team.
The report said that such was the nature of the pitch that the team who won the toss first gained a huge advantage.
There were enough positives like in the first Test where Ashton Agar made a brilliant 98 to rescue Australia from 117/9.
