The Australian Olympics Committee has announced that a zero tolerance ban will be in place in the Olympic Village and on the flight home for Australian athletes competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
According to News.com.au, Aussie Olympians who drink alcohol and disrupt other athletes in the Olympic village will be kicked out, under strict new team rules to be enforced in Rio.
New Australian Chef de Mission, Kitty Chiller, has declared the Australian section of the Olympic village a dry area and warned athletes they will be removed if they don't comply, the report said.
Athletes will also have to curtail their post-Games celebrations, with alcohol banned on the flight back to Sydney from Rio, the report added.
The move comes in response to behavioural issues at the London Games, which included drunken and disruptive behaviour by athletes whose events had finished, the report further said.
Chiller said the zero tolerance approach was a crucial step in changing the culture within the Australian Olympic team and ensuring athletes were given every chance to succeed in Brazil.
