The Australian cricket team had reportedly drowned their sorrows over losing the Ashes series by partying away in the famous Beatles Cavern Club just hours after England retained the historic urn after a rain-washed Old Trafford draw.

According to the Mirror, the tourists seemed to be in the best of spirits and appeared to have shrugged off the red-faced reverse quickly as they were reportedly seen on a drinking spree in the Liverpool club despite drawing against England in the Ashes at Old Trafford earlier in the day.

The report further said that all-rounder Shane Watson, who had not performed upto expectations and is yet to score a big number in the Ashes series, was one of the more-exuberant players in the club as he took to stage to perform an acoustic version of a song from American rock band The Killers.

Stating that the team arrived at The Cavern after 10 pm, general manager Billy Irwin said that there were more than twenty players and a couple of coaches, adding that none of them were looking downcast and were in visibly good spirits despite losing the Ashes.

The report further said that Watson was most engrossed with the Beatles story and was given a VIP tour of the club, with Erwin saying that Watson had told him that he loved The Beatles and had always wanted to visit the club.

Erwin further said that Watson seemed knowledgeable about guitars, as he had shown an interest in Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney's guitar that is on display at the club, adding that the top point in the night was when Watson was persuaded to get on stage to do a song.

Erwin quipped that he had told Watson that if he was ever out of a job in the cricket, he could have a career as a singer.
