Australia trail India by 187 runs with six wickets remaining after game was suspended on the second day of the second Test at Brisbane cricket ground due to bad lighting.

India managed to put up a respectable total of 408 in the first innings, thanks to opener Murali Vijay's brilliant knock of 144 runs and Ajinkya Rahane's 81.

23-year-old fast bowler Josh Hazlewood displayed impressive bowling skills delivering match figures of 5-68. He claimed the wickets of Shikhar Dhawan (24), Cheteshwar Pujara (18), Rahane (81), skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (33) and Ravi Ashwin (35).

Dhawan, Pujara, Rahane and Dhoni were caught behind the wicket by keeper Brad Haddin off Hazlewood's deliveries while Ashwin was caught by Shane Watson.

Chris Rogers and David Warner went in to open for Australia. Rogers hit 55 before he was caught behind the wicket by keeper Dhoni, while Warner hit 29 before he was caught by Ashwin. Both batsman went off on fast bowler Umesh Yadav's deliveries.

All-rounder Watson managed to add 25 runs to the Australian scoreline before he fell prey to a delivery from Ashwin and was caught by Dhawan while he was going for a big hit over mid-on.

Yadav's third wicket of the day was Shaun Marsh who went at a back of a length, angled across delivery that had an extra bounce, hitting it over first slip's head and Ashwin timed his jump perfectly and grabbed it two-handed.

Stand-in skipper Steven Smith remained unbeaten on 65 and would resume batting for Australia on Friday helped on the crease by Mitchell Marsh on 7.

At the draw of the stumps on the second day, Australia were 221-4 having faced 52 overs.
