The Indian contingent endured a disappointing day in the US Open as both Leander Paes and Sania Mirza lost their respective doubles matches at Flushing Meadows.
Top seeded Sania and Bruno Soares, who were defending the title, suffered a shocking 3-6, 3-6 defeat to Czech-Polish duo of Andrea Hlavackova and
Lukasz Kubot in the opening round of the mixed doubles event that lasted 65 minutes.
In the men's doubles event, Leander Paes and his Spanish partner Fernando Verdasco lost their second round match 5-7, 6-4, 3-6 against unseeded American pair of Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey.
