Pakistan coach Dave Whatmore has blamed the team's batsmen for their poor performance, which led the team to its defeat in the Champions Trophy.
Whatmore said that the practice matches were good but the team made mistakes, which it needs to rectify adding that despite the team knew of the conditions at The Oval, it failed to take advantage, The Nation reports.
According to the report, blaming the batsmen for the defeat, Whatmore said that the team lost wickets in clusters, which is not desirable in a short tournament and when wickets are lost upfront there is nothing much that can be done.
Whatmore said that Pakistan's poor performance in one series does not make it a bad team and disagreed that the team's batting trend has been worrisome of lately.
He has urged the Pakistan selectors to prepare a squad for the World Cup 2015, the report added.
