Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) acting chairman Najam Sethi has reportedly been served a contempt notice by the Islamabad High Court for not complying with its orders to restrain from functioning in his post and vacating the office.

The court issued the notice while hearing a contempt plea moved by petitioner Ahmad Nawaz Khan, who stated that Sethi deliberately and intentionally violated the restraining order and was still functioning in his job, adding that he had also used contemptuous language against the court.

According to The Dawn, Khan's counsel had alleged that despite having the knowledge of restraining order from working as PCB's acting chairman, Sethi did not vacate the office and had used contemptuous language on Twitter while saying that there were some 'elements with vested interests' who were not allowing him to work as chairman.

The court had suspended the Interim Management Committee (IMC) constituted to govern the PCB affairs of which Sethi was given charge, and also restrained him and other members of the IMC from 'posing themselves as members and from performing any function of the PCB', the report further said.
